Cornsilk
How it Works
This single herb is well known for its benefit to the urinary system. It is commonly use on its own or in combination with other herbs as a mild diuretic and to soothe irritation. Cornsilk can have a significant content of potassium, which may contribute to some of its diuretic effect. The silky tassel inside the corn husk is highly valued in herbology as a support to the urinary system. After the corn plant has shed its pollen, the silk is gathered, dried and powdered for various uses. Cornsilk is one the best traditional herbal remedies for urinary tract irritation as it soothes and relaxes the lining of the urinary system and improves urinary flow.
